ROTOTILLER KR

DUTZI ROOTOTILLER KR – Crumbling, Mixing, Seeding

The core of the DUTZI system for plant-friendly soil structure

At the heart of the DUTZI ROOTOTILLER KR is a vertically operating rotor—equipped with tines or chisels—that crumbles the soil without compaction and incorporates crop residues into the top 5–8 cm in an environmentally sound manner.

The KR is highly versatile: it can be used on its own for secondary soil cultivation, with TL shares for primary soil cultivation, in combination with the front subsoiler or TL shares for OnePass soil cultivation—or with the front subsoiler or TL shares and a seed drill for complete cultivation in a single pass.

The result is a natural, plant-friendly soil structure with high fertility. The following roller—a disc roller or toothed packer roller—ensures optimal reconsolidation and thus creates optimal soil contact. Any standard seed drill can be mounted on the KR.

In addition to the tine and chisel rotors, a mulch rotor is also available.

The chisel rotor

This chisel is ideal for soils with few stones. It has an exceptionally long service life. The chisels have brazed carbide tips and show hardly any wear. It is possible that these brazed chisel tips may chip off upon contact with very hard stones. In that case, the individual chisel should be replaced. However, this rarely happens. Therefore, a tine rotor should be used on “stone-rich” soils.

The tine rotor

The tine is the tool of choice for stony soils. The special arrangement and shape of the tines ensure a piercing penetration without smearing. The tine strikes the stone vertically from above and either pushes it deep into the soil or shatters it. The disadvantage of the tine rotor is that the tines wear out over time. The more abrasive the soils, the faster they wear. And then the entire set of tines must be replaced.

Incorporation of crop residues

The KR works crop residues cleanly into the topsoil. Straw, cover crops, and plant residues are distributed evenly and incorporated into the top 5–8 cm—ideal for rapid decomposition and humus formation.

Distribution is even across the entire working width, without any material being left behind or smeared. This creates ideal conditions for the subsequent crop.

    Rolling options

The trailing roller ensures soil reconsolidation and provides the necessary ground contact. DUTZI offers two roller variants:

The steel-wheel roller is the more modern roller variant. It is clog-free and can therefore be used even in wet conditions and on heavy soils.

The tooth packer roller is the more traditional type of roller, used, for example, in grassland or for specialized applications.

Can be combined with a seed drill

Any standard seed drill can be mounted on the KR. This allows the seed to be deposited directly into the prepared, crumbly soil structure. Crumbling, seeding, and reconsolidation—all in a single pass. Ideally, this can be combined with an FL at the front or with TL shares directly in front of the rotor. This achieves four work steps in a single pass.

This combination saves time, reduces the number of passes, and creates optimal germination conditions.

    Versatile applications

    The KR is versatile:

Solo without coulters: secondary soil cultivation, shallow crumbling, incorporation of cover crops

With TL shares or delta coulters: Primary soil cultivation with integrated Non-destructive deep-acting loosening (7–8 cm wide tools, as with the FL/HL) or by completely lifting and breaking up the compaction layer and incorporating significantly more material in a much more substantial manner: Working depth of the rotor with delta coulters: approx. 13–18 cm. Working depth of the rotor without delta shares and with or without TL shares: approx. 5–8 cm.

In combination with the FL front subsoiler: OnePass soil cultivation with deep loosening + crumbling + seeding + reconsolidation.

This modularity makes the KR the centerpiece of an adaptable soil cultivation system.
